About
Catherine Cronin is a writer, currently based in Switzerland. A proud Kilkenny native, Ireland is never far from her mind or her work. After over a decade working in education in Zurich, a breast cancer diagnosis pushed her to seriously follow her passion for writing. With the support of her amazing husband, Ivan, her family, and friends, (not to mention a lot of meds!), Catherine is writing and creating everyday, and, unlike before her illness, not taking life for granted.
Her first play, Håber Undone, was chosen to be part of the Druid Debuts rehearsed readings programme for 2021. Catherine’s second play, a one-woman piece called Orphan Disease, premiered in Zurich in August 2021 and was staged in Kilkenny in April 2022. Catherine has also been commissioned by Close Encounters Theatre in Zurich to write two plays for their acting courses. For the adults, the piece Caged was written for performances in December 2022, and for their youth courses in 2023, Catherine wrote Influenced.
Catherine is also working on her first collection of poetry and is busy submitting work to some of her favourite anthologies and publications from around the world. So far, her work has been published in Ireland, the UK, Switzerland and the USA.
